Just tap it in...
tap tap taparoo
The Tap In Winter Golf League at Virtually Golf, proudly sponsored by PING, is back for the 2025–26 season after our biggest and most competitive league yet.
Last year saw epic battles, clutch putts, and more questionable swings than we can count. In the end, it was Ben Sciavi who claimed the crown, with Luke Lovell in second and Dan Smith in third, proof that steady nerves and simulator practice goes a long way.
The format stays exactly as you loved it, two weeks to play each round, plenty of time to practise, and weekly prizes to keep the competition fierce. But this year, we’re turning up the atmosphere: Tuesday and Wednesday nights are the perfect time to get your round in while enjoying Champions League football live on our big screens. Even better, Tap In members get unlimited practice between rounds — because why wouldn’t you?
Whether you’re chasing the league trophy, aiming for weekly prizes or just here for the laughs and the camaraderie, the Tap In Winter Golf League is your ticket to fun and competition all winter long.
Get ready to swing, banter, and battle it out… and who knows..

Tap-In Round 10 Update: The Final Stretch Is Here
We’re well and truly into the business end of the tournament, and it’s been great to see the competitive edge coming out. There have been plenty of questions flying around — what’s needed to finish in certain spots, and most importantly, is it still mathematically possible to catch Dan Smith?
At this stage… it might take two rounds of absolute miracles — but in golf, stranger things have happened!
Catching Up: Rounds 8 & 9 Recap
Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few weeks — so here’s a full catch-up on the action.
Round 8
- Mark Sims claimed both best net and gross, firing an incredible gross 66 for a net 65.
- Mark Tonks also posted a net 65 but narrowly lost out on the back-nine countback.
- Dan Smith secured third with a solid net 70.
Round 9
- David Tapper produced an outstanding net 59 — a truly superb round.
Seeing his steady improvement week after week, David voluntarily reduced his handicap by 2 shots more than planned, taking a total 6-shot cut heading into Round 10. - Steven McEwan took second with a fantastic net 64.
- Lewis Jobbling followed closely with a strong net 66.
The scoring at the top has been seriously impressive.
Old Hickory: Beauty, Water… and Punishment
Old Hickory proved to be a real test. With water hazards in play on numerous tee shots and lurking around second shots into par 5s, accuracy was absolutely essential.
Those who kept it straight reaped the rewards. Those who didn’t… found out very quickly how unforgiving the layout could be. It was a course that separated disciplined play from risky aggression.
Nearest the Pin: A Record Falls
Round 8 also brought a major shake-up in the Nearest the Pin competition.
George’s long-standing benchmark was finally beaten — and once again it was Dan Smith who stepped up, landing one to an incredible 1 foot 11 inches.
With just two attempts remaining, it’s starting to feel like it might take a hole-in-one to steal that title.
Looking Ahead: Pine Trees and Breezes in Arizona
For our penultimate round, we head west across the USA to Pine Canyon in Arizona.
True to its name, the course is lined with pine trees, and missing the fairway will often leave you awkwardly tucked behind one. Add in breezy wind conditions, and every shot will demand full attention.
This is not a week for careless swings — course management and focus will be key.
As always, best of luck to everyone. We can’t wait to see who rises to the occasion as we approach the grand finale!
JUST ONE GOOD SHOT!
Nearest The Pin
Last season, Dan Fox claimed glory with a laser-like shot just 3.2ft from the flag, a mark that held firm all the way to the final round.
The format is unchanged: one attempt after each round to get as close as possible. And remember, a hole-in-one ends the tournament instantly, with the winner not only securing the main prize but also a limited-edition PING x VG polo, with embroidery on the sleeve “Tap In Winter League – HOLE IN ONE.”
Where?
This year, our new manager Isaac had the honour of choosing the challenge, and he’s gone local: the 12th hole at the Hotchkin Course, Woodhall Spa.

The prize for the closest shot? A sleek PING Moonlight pencil bag.
